Practical English II

Teacher: Tim Miank

Teacher Tim has a Master’s degree in English and taught in the writing programs at Lansing Community College for over 30 years. He has taught English at Friendship House for several years.

Description:

In this six-week class, we will explore spoken expressions—words,
phrases, sentences–suitable for a variety of common situations. We will
identify what these options are and discuss the different messages these
options send to others. In addition, we will explore several examples of
language patterns common in American speech, patterns you have probably
heard many times. Like idioms, these patterns can be difficult to understand,
but we can master them, and doing so will help you to better understand the
English you hear. I hope this class will be very useful for you, and a lot of fun,
too!
