Teacher Iryna Salenko
Iryna Salenko was born in Kyiv, Ukraine, in 1974. 1991-1995 – Kiev M.Boychuk Institute of Fine Arts, Bachelor of Art, 1996-2001 – Kiev National University of Technologies and Design, Master Of Art and Fashion Design. She has lived in the USA with her family since 2003. She works as an independent artist across various media, primarily using oil paints and acrylics. She has participated in exhibitions in Tucson, New York, Iowa City (winning a “Best of Show” award), and East Lansing (at the East Lansing Library). . From 2018 to 2022, she worked in the Art Department for Apparel and Textile Design at MSU as a technician specializing in sewing machines and sergers. Now she exhibits and sells her work on online platforms such as eBay and Etsy.

Each week, you will complete a brand-new, finished painting project while building foundational art skills. No prior experience is required. - Art Foundations: Main principles of composition, balance, and focal points.
- Color Mixing: Learn the rules of color theory, blending, and creating harmonious palettes.
- Light & Shadow: Discover how to create depth, three-dimensional form, and realistic textures.
- Vocabulary Building: Expand your language skills by learning 5 key English art terms and expressions in every class.
Weekly Projects:
Every session features a unique subject to paint from start to finish. Together, we will capture the beauty of the world around us, including:
- Vibrant flowers and botanical studies
- Still life paintings of fresh fruits
- Colorful birds and wildlife
- Scenic, relaxing landscapes
- Portrait
