Closing 2021 Summer Semester Comments

Friendship House MSU Teachers and Students;

As we wrap up our summer semester of classes (we will continue with a Monday and Friday Virtual Living Room Zoom gathering in August) I want to personally share a couple of “Thanks”:

First, a big THANK YOU to our teachers for their time and dedication to our ministry and the students that they teach. Even virtually, we do not see the extra time and effort put forth by each teacher to prepare a curriculum for each class.

Secondly, another big THANK YOU to our community of students, both near and far, for your commitment to learn, grow, and share with us your life and your desire to improve the quality of your life for yourself and those around you.

As you take a break to enjoy a Michigan (or wherever you are) August, please know that Jinsook and I are preparing the house for a return to in person classes while maintaining our virtual class interaction.

We’ve been using the term “Hybrid” to describe our expected plan going forward to offer in person for those who can join us in the house while being virtual to those who are not able to be present (either by choice, circumstance, or physical distance)…This would also apply to teachers who aren’t in the house.So please mark your calendars for the following upcoming events:

  • Tuesday, August 3rd: Teacher Mary’s Garden Tour
  • Thursday, August 5th: Jan’s Field trip to Holland, MI (sign up here)
  • Saturday, August 28th, 3-5 pm: Friendship House Welcome Open House. Details to follow.
  • Sunday, August 29th, 1-5:30 pm: Martin Luther Chapel Family Carnival. Details to follow.
  • Tuesday, September 7th: First day of Friendship House fall semester of classes. Details to follow.
  • Sunday, September 12th: First Annual Frances Kaneene 5K race. Friendship House sponsored race at Hawk Island Park. Details to follow.

We are excited for the upcoming semester of classes and many other activities so please enjoy some time away and we look forward to seeing everyone very soon.God’s Blessings to you and your families!
