Friendship House MSU Community,
As we wrap up the 2022 fall semester of classes, I want to share some thanks and make a few announcements regarding upcoming events and dates.
First, a big THANK YOU to all of our teachers for their time and dedication to our ministry and their students. We began the semester in September and whether teaching from home or still coming to the house, our teachers put in the extra time and effort to prepare a curriculum for each class. The result of our teachers’ extra efforts was obvious during each class session.
Second, another big THANK YOU to you, our community of students both near and far, who continue to join us from near and far to improve the quality of your lives for yourselves and those around you.
As we look forward during this holiday season and into 2023, please mark your calendars for the following upcoming events:
- Potter Park Zoo Wonderland of Lights: Continues now, Thursday-Sunday 5-8 PM, through December 23rd. Passes are available and good for this event. Before you get the zoo pass at Friendship House, please make a reservation to pick it up and submit the form.
- Wednesday, December 14th: Teacher Jan’s Frankenmuth Field Trip.
- The Living Nativity: The good people of Our Savior Lutheran Church (Teacher Mary Lou and Teacher Clyde’s home congregation) have invited us to attend their presentation of the “Living Nativity” depicting the birth of Jesus with live actors and animals on Saturday, December 17th between 5 – 7 pm.
- 2022 Christmas party: Thursday, December 22
- Group Activities: We are planning to have some winter/spring group activities like a tailgate (indoor) and a group event at an MSU hockey game.
As we take a break between semesters (The Friendship House will be closed on December 23rd and will reopen on January 2nd…Winter/Spring classes begin on Monday, January 9th) to prepare for another slate of hybrid (virtual and in-person) classes, we invite new and returning international students who have registered to come by the house for orientation on our spring semester protocols and to meet the staff.
We are excited about the upcoming semester of classes and pray that conditions continue to be favorable for group activities, here at the house and beyond.
I pray that you take the opportunity to enjoy the Christmas holiday season here in Michigan, or wherever the Lord finds you. God’s Blessings to you and your families!
